"Community is a Collaboration"
-Artist: Maxwell Kolenda / Designer & Craftsman
"The table is one of the largest, if not the largest engraved conference sized tables in the world with all the influential leaders here in Grand Rapids that have helped form this city to what it is today. Showing the importance of humanitarian efforts and contributions made by the leaders of Grand Rapids. My art piece signifies that a city is not just one side or one type of persons, but are designed and built from everyday people along with the most successful leaders. By working together and supporting one another is what truly makes a city great. The 180 degree wall behind the main art piece is the exact metropolitan area of Grand Rapids made from a mosaic of 30,000 pictures of everyday people’s faces. Signifying that great cities are built by everyday people, and that you matter to what this city is and what it means to be a community. Photos will also be taken at exhibit to add your face to the wall. This piece will be interactive, taking photos of patrons viewing my art prize that would like to be added to the Grand Rapids panoramic wall. I am very excited to bring an awareness to the importance of community and get people involved."
